This is the Apex Tactical 100153 Forward Set Sear & Trigger Kit, built specifically for the Smith & Wesson M&P 2.0. If you’ve been shooting your M&P and thinking the factory trigger could use some work—less creep, shorter reset, a cleaner break—this kit is the fix. It’s a direct replacement for that hinged factory trigger, swapping it out for a solid aluminum flat trigger with a center-mounted pivoting safety. The safety features are kept factory-spec, so you’re not losing anything in terms of safe handling.

The big deal here is the “forward set” design. Apex Tactical engineers this to reduce pre-travel and over-travel compared to the stock setup. You get a shorter, more positive reset, which means your follow-up shots can be faster without fighting through extra trigger movement. The pull weight stays in the service pistol range—not too light for a duty or carry gun, but smoother and more consistent than what you’re used to.

Drop-In Installation (Mostly)

The kit is designed to be drop-in, meaning you shouldn’t need to break out the files or do any permanent modification to your M&P 2.0. That said, we’re straight with customers: Apex recommends having an armorer or experienced gunsmith handle the install. If you’re comfortable with detail stripping a pistol and have the right tools, you can do it yourself. But if you’ve never taken down an M&P past field stripping, bring it to a pro. Our Take from the Shop

We’ve installed a few of these in customer guns and in our own personal M&P 2.0s. The difference is noticeable from the first trigger pull. The factory hinged trigger has a lot of take-up and a mushy break. This Apex kit cleans that up—crisp break, short reset, and the pull weight comes in around 4.5 to 5 pounds depending on your gun’s tolerances. It’s not a race trigger, but it’s a significant upgrade for a service pistol.

The red anodized finish holds up well. We’ve seen some aftermarket triggers wear after a few thousand rounds, but Apex uses a good anodizing process that doesn’t flake or fade fast. The safety plunger engagement is positive—no accidental discharges if you drop the gun, which matters for a carry piece.
